ANOTHER VIEW #1

By: Bill Hanson

For generations a major controversy has been growing among the cells of a certain broody hen.  The question of "which came first, the Chicken or the Egg" is the hot topic at every level of their society.  From the working stiffs of the muscles to the academics in the brain, each cell has an answer but they cannot  agree on anything as THE ANSWER.

The majority Chickenist faction's basic contention is that an Egg could not exist without a First Chicken for it to split from.   This would be hard for the small but militant congregation of Eggologists to dispute if it wasn't for the fact that no two Chickenists can agree in their concept of Chicken, with the sole exception that they all believe She intentionally created the Egg.

The Eggologists have difficulty accepting the idea of intent on the scale necessary to create an Original Egg.  They, therefore, claim it was created by chance with all subsequent chickens and eggs being created by normal splitting.

From our lofty position as the proud possessors of the highest form of intelligence in creation we humans can chuckle over the ludicrous picture of a bunch of cells arguing over this most basic of metaphysical questions.  After all, we know more about creation than they ever could.  We can forgive them their errors though since they can only arrive at their conception of reality through their limited experience of reality.

Perhaps if they both spent more time trying to understand their relation to creation and less time arguing about creations relation to themselves, they would find out what an egg actually is...or a chicken...or a rooster...a farmer...a field...a river...a cloud...an atom...or even the stars!  Ad infinitum Dei!
