MESSAGE | | Hello I
have been visiting the "Gaia Growing" web site and I like what I see
on it.
In a very
unique way it builds on the increasingly common perception that the world we inhabit
is "one" living entity and that we are "all" part of that
entity just as much as each cell in our bodies is part of of us. As a growing
number of other people are doing these days it refers to this entity as Gaia,
which is the ancient Greek name for the earth as a living entity. It
then takes this perception in a unusual direction by suggesting that that Gaia,
on its own vast time scale, is still a baby. One that is just becoming aware of
herself as a consequence of us becoming aware of her as a living entity in her
own right. Taking this analogy a step further it then suggests that, since Gaia's
developing awareness of herself is being born out of our growing awareness her,
we are all responsible as co-parents for helping to raise her to a healthy and
productive maturity. Aspects of
these perceptions are set out on the home page of the site in a poem and an article
which are, on their own, worth a visit to the site. I
found the unusual perspectives offered on this site very positive and refreshing
and I feel that we all need to, at least consider them. You
